In fact bikini was designed 60 years ago and no wonder! in France. Why no wonder? Because the early 20th century, practically all high fashion originated in Paris. Fashion magazines from other countries sent editors to the Paris fashion shows. Department stores sent buyers to the Paris shows, where they purchased garments to copy (and openly stole the style lines and trim details of others). But it should be said in all fairness that only thanks to Hollywood movie stars a bikini took special significance and really wide popularity.

By the way, famous Kelly Killoren Bensimon, former model and nowadays chief of some of fashion magazines, published a special The Bikini Book dedicated to swimsuits. This book, full of fantastic photographs and curious historical facts, is one of the best pictoral fashion history books to come out in a long time, also it can be a great gift for everyone who is interested in the theme! When Rird just was going to make a presentation of «le bikini» in one of Paris hotels in 1946, long time he could not find out any Parisian beauty to demonstrate so frank costume then only Michelin Bernardini, the professional stripteaser of one of Parisian club, gave her consent to do it and created by that a real furor.
